- End of the Give In Lent Campaign

The Give in Lent campaign is coming to an end this Thursday, 2nd April!
If you’ve taken part, we just want to say a huge thank you. Your kindness and generosity make such a difference and help us continue supporting people in our community.
If you’re planning to drop-off your collection at our County Durham and Sunderland warehouse, we’ll be accepting Give in Lent donations on Thursday 2nd April, and then again when we return after the Easter bank holiday on Tuesday 7th April!
Thank you!

- Drum Fast Fit & Performance Family Fun Day

Drum Fast Fit & Performance are delighted to host a Family Fun Day to raise funds for us on Saturday 18th April at 10:00 AM on 1st Avenue, Drum Industrial Estate.
Bring the whole family for a day of fun. Enjoy a bouncy castle, F1 simulator, bargain stalls, food, face and nail painting, and more. There’s something for everyone.
Watch for more details on our Facebook page and Drum Fast Fit & Performance’s Facebook page.

- Give In Lent, 18 Feb – 2 April

This Lent, we’re inviting our community to “Give in Lent” by making a small daily sacrifice that can make a big difference.
Lent is a 40-day period of reflection, giving, and kindness, leading up to Easter – and it’s the perfect time to support local people facing hardship.
You can take part in two simple ways:
- Put aside 40p a day for 40 days and donate online at the end of Lent.
- Or donate one food item a day for 40 days and drop-off your donations at the end of Lent at one of our foodbanks or at our warehouse at the Drum Industrial Estate.
Small, regular acts of generosity really do add up and help us support individuals and families in our community when they need it most.

- Tesco Winter Collection Results!

On the last Thursday, Friday and Saturday of November it was the national Tesco Winter Collection which saw Tesco stores across the country pair up with Trussell Foodbanks and encourage their customers to donate essential items to support local people in financial crisis, in the run up to Christmas.
County Durham Foodbank worked in partnership with seven Tesco stores in our region: Annfield Plain, Bishop Auckland, Chester-le-Street, Consett, Durham Gilesgate, Langley Moor and Newton Aycliffe.
It really was an amazing team effort with everyone pulling together to make the collection a great success. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped to organise the collection, volunteer in store, support with van pick ups and work tirelessly in the warehouse to sort donations.
In total we collected nearly five and a half tonnes of much needed supplies in the run up to our busiest period of the year. The amount of food collected will provide over 6,700 meals to local people.
Thanks again to everyone involved!

- The Tesco Winter Collection Starts This Week!

From Thursday 27th November through Saturday 29th November, County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank will be running collections at the following Tesco stores:
- Annfield Plain
- Langley Moor
- Consett
- Bishop Auckland
- Newton Aycliffe
- Gilesgate
If you’re popping in for your shopping, we’d be so grateful if you could stop by and donate an item. Even the smallest contribution makes a big difference and helps us make sure local families have the essentials they need throughout the winter months!

- Volunteers Needed for Tesco Winter Food Collection 2025

County Durham Foodbank is calling for volunteers to help support this year’s Tesco Winter Food Collection.
The event takes place on Thursday 27, Friday 28, and Saturday 29 November 2025 from 9am to 4pm each day.
We are in need of volunteers across three Tesco stores in County Durham: Chester-le-Street, Durham Gilesgate, and Newton Aycliffe.
Even a couple of hours of your time can make a huge difference. Volunteers can choose a shift that suits them — from just two hours to a full day. Tasks include greeting customers, handing out shopping lists, receiving and sorting donations, and thanking shoppers for their generosity.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in your community and help support local families in need this winter. Families, friends, and colleagues are all welcome to take part.
If you’d like to volunteer or find out more, please contact: office@durhamcp.org.uk
Together, we can make a difference for those who need it most.
