- [Tesco Winter Collection Results!](https://durhamcp.org.uk/tesco-winter-collection-results/): On the last Thursday, Friday and Saturday of November it was the national Tesco Winter Collection which saw Tesco stores across the country pair up with Trussell Foodbanks and encourage their customers to donate essential items to support local people in financial crisis, in the run up to Christmas. County Durham Foodbank worked in partnership with seven Tesco stores in our region: Annfield Plain, Bishop Auckland, Chester-le-Street, Consett, Durham Gilesgate, Langley Moor and Newton Aycliffe. - [Facts & Figures](https://durhamcp.org.uk/facts-and-figures/): We provided 12,047 emergency food parcels to people in crisis in 2025. People mainly need emergency food because of low benefit income (36%), as well as delays (18%) or changes (16%) to benefit payments. In 2025, Durham Christian Partnership’s network of 36 foodbanks distributed over 208 tonnes of food which helped to feed those most in need in our communities. Thank you to everyone who donated.  Durham Christian Partnership’s money advice service helped clients tackle a total of £2.8 million in debt in 2025.

It provides a top-up voucher for around two weeks’ worth of fuel to clients with a prepayment meter who have been identified as being in ‘crisis need’ by an independent Foodbank referrer. The scheme helps prevent self-disconnection – when someone cannot afford to top up their meter – and ensures people can continue to access essentials such as heating and cooking. Our foodbanks provide short term support while the crisis is resolved. Each year we provide enough food to feed over 25,000 for 3 days – around 8.500 of those are children. Freedom from the burden of debt Resolving debts improves people’s health, mentally and physically, and can transform lives and family relationships. On average people come to us with £8000 of debt.
